Joseph and Brittany James
Leighton + Judah

Joseph, Brittany and their two children have lived in the coastal city of Dar Es Salaam since 2016. They are a part of the Grace Mission Team sent from Grace Baptist Church. An interesting fact is Stephanie Boon and Brittany are sisters. As a team, we have five main areas of ministry while partnering with and building into Tanzanian leadership… Pastoral Training (BTCP/L-Bible Training Center for Pastors & Leaders), SIFA Collective - ministering to marginalized women through entrepreneurship skills and discipleship, Dar Health Initiative- health advocacy and community wellness education, Grace Mission Internship- young men’s ministry and urban farm training, and lastly a community counseling ministry. Our team feels so blessed to be able to serve together each in our own giftings as we reach the city of Dar for the gospel. We value the local church, local leadership, local partnerships, and equipping believers to be an outreach to their communities.

Joseph loves preaching and ministering as lead elder in their local church God’s Tribe, while ministering as a leader for BTCP and The Grace Mission internship. His desire is to teach young men how to know God's Word and live obediently. He is currently finishing his master’s degree in Divinity. As of 2021, the Internship Program has graduated 15 young Tanzanian men ready to minister in their local churches and communities, and their current class of 12 pastors are being trained for the next two years to strengthen gospel-centered churches across Tanzania. Brittany has been a licensed nurse since 2010. While she has her nursing license and bachelor’s in counseling, her goal is to work towards public health certification. God has given her a passion for healthcare education. With her Tanzanian nephew and ministry partner, Joseph Boon (Clinical Officer), they are fulfilling their dream to work in a medical ministry together. This gospel-driven outreach has impacted hundreds of people since 2016, offering free education and resources to communities in need.

Brittany and Joseph both value the significance of health education and preventing disease, but more importantly, their passion is to build dignified relationships to share the gospel. They teach weekly health lessons to young women, teach community health seminars, and make weekly house visits around the city. They are able to connect others to local churches they have built relationships, to continue to advance evangelism and discipleship through this ministry. God is good and faithful. The James kids are Leighton and Judah, who both love living in Tanzania alongside their Boon family cousins. Leighton enjoys sports, especially football (soccer for those western people!). She is creative and loves to help others. Judah loves dinosaurs and science. He will talk to anyone about anything, sharing lots of stories about whatever he is interested in. His dream is to be a scientist, and ideally, he’d love to bring the dinosaurs back into existence.

The James’ thank God for their lives and ministries here and all the ways He has been gracious, kind, long-suffering, and providing all that they need. They want to be used to make disciples that make disciples, thank you for your prayers and support!
